Who’s to Blame

Douglas Ryan is the President of Marketing Solutions for RR Donnelley.  He was previously President of Digitas in North America, Prior to that, he served as Global Client Service Director at EnergyBBDO and Chief Marketing Officer for Young & Rubicam in Chicago. In those roles, he ensured the continued survival of the global economy by compelling consumer spending via diabolically brilliant marketing. Previous to that,  Doug was Vice-President for Global Marketing at UNext, an online education company that developed business education courses in partnership with Stanford University, The University of Chicago, Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. The company was notable for having been co-founded by three Nobel Prize winners, though only one ever spoke to him at any length. Previously, Mr. Ryan was a Vice President with the Leo Burnett agency, where he honed his alleged skills by developing marketing strategies for a number of prominent global brands, including Kellogg, Reebok, and Philip Morris. He was instrumental to the launch of Giant Step Interactive, a Leo Burnett agency subsidiary specializing in corrupting the Internet via interactive marketing, as its Vice President of Market Development.  Surprisingly, Mr. Ryan received a B.S. in engineering from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He has not received any honorary degrees, which he attributes to a series of gross oversights. He was co-producer on two independent films, released theatrically in the U.S., one of which won the Best Long Feature Film at the overrated South by Southwest Festival.

    Captain:
Just in case you thought I wasn’t paying attention. So many things to respond to (purchase funnel – very engaging) but this made me truly laugh out loud:

“The company was notable for having been co-founded by three Nobel Prize winners, though only one ever spoke to him at any length. ”

    Best,
    Kate
